Recombinant protein production is a cornerstone of modern biotechnology, and Escherichia coli remains the workhorse for expressing heterologous proteins thanks to its fast growth, genetic tractability, and ability to deliver high yields. Yet, traditional expression protocols often fall short when it comes to high-throughput applications — they’re time-consuming, resource-intensive, and prone to human error.
In this webinar, we’ll introduce Automated Protein EXpression (APEX) — a fully automated, reliable, and cost-effective workflow for recombinant protein production in E. coli. Built on the open-source Opentrons OT-2 platform, APEX streamlines every step of the process — from transformation and plating to colony sampling, culturing, and induction — with high precision and reproducibility.
We’ll demonstrate how APEX simplifies complex workflows, reduces variability, and accelerates discovery, all using an affordable automation setup. You’ll also see real-world examples showcasing automated transformation across plasmids of varying sizes (2.7–17.7 kb) and the successful expression of diverse proteins (27–222 kDa).
Join us to explore how APEX can bring automation, scalability, and consistency to your protein expression workflows — making high-throughput recombinant protein production more accessible than ever.
